Places of interest in Spain – Navarre

Navarre is a place considered very strategic for the Spanish Government. The place has many historic buildings, beautiful mountains, valleys. etc. Apart from this, it is considered very strategic from the military point of view. It is said that the city of Pamplona, the capital of Navarre, is the most important place for the military. It is here that the Ebro valley and the northern mountains are connected. Navarre is located at the centre of this valley. Now, both Navarre and Pamplona occupy a very important place as an active economic zone. It is from here that Spain has established many economic and cultural links with the outside world.

Brief history of Navarre:

Places of interest in Spain – Gran Canaria

Spain is a paradise for tourists. Yes, it is truly a paradise. If you visit Gran Canaria, you will certainly agree with this statement. This is the most populous of the Canary Islands. Located in the northeastern part of Spain, the other two islands adjacent to Gran Canaria are Tenerife and Fuerteventura.

About the place:

People who go on holiday normally prefer the beach or a mountainous place so that they can enjoy quiet living in the midst of nature. Gran Canaria has everything a tourist demands. The place is rich in flora and fauna. The golden sand adds color to the already beautiful nature. In fact this is called the ‘miniature continent’. Gran Canaria is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Interestingly the beach starts almost at the foot of the mountain. It is a wonderful place to see.  Just climb up the mountain to see the beautiful sea and the vast stretch of beach. Places of interest in Spain – Denia

Denia, located about 85 kilometers from Alicante, is blessed with beautiful beaches and many places of interest. Actually, this town, which has an estimated population of 29000, is dependent on tourism. Of course there are other commercial activities such as fishing. In fact Denia is one of the few provinces which have huge fleets of modern fishing vessels. It also has ferry service to Mallorca, Ibiza and several other places. Now, this place has become one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Spain.

Places of interest:

Like any other part of Spain, even this tiny town Denia has many things to offer tourists so that they will enjoy their stay. There is a Castillo (Castle) which is believed to have been built in the 11th or 12th Century. This castle is just in front of the beach and offers an excellent view. It is a wonderful experience to watch the sea and the nearby places from the top of the castle. Fishermen’s quarters are yet another place which should not be missed. The narrow cobbled roads and buildings perfectly whitewashed take the visitor back in time to the medieval period. Places of interest in Spain – Canary Island

Among the busiest islands of Spain, located to the northwest of the African mainland, the Canary Islands have many other cities spread over 7445 square kilometers. Tenerife, Hierro, La Palma, Gomera, Gran Canaria are some of the other cities coming under the fold of this autonomous Spanish Archipelago province. Each of these cities has many places of interest for the tourist. A few of the places of interest are mentioned here:

La Orotava:

This charming place in Spain has beautiful parks and it is from here one can view the Teide Volcano spewing colorful lava. Places of interest in Spain – Avila

Avila is Spain’s highest capital province. The provincial rule of Avila changed hands from The Romans to the Moors, who ruled it for about three centuries, until finally it came under Christian rule in the year 1085. Avila has been declared a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Avila has many places of interest for the tourist.

Capilla de Mosen Rubi:

This chapel built around 1516 now belongs to a Dominican nunnery. The uniqueness of this chapel is that it contains the Christ’s polychrome figure. This most revered place draws large crowd every day. Read the rest of this entry »
