First of all, it is a wonderful place for sunbathing and water-sports. You can practice sailing and scuba diving. Then, you should know that the town is a place of great historical importance for Spaniards.

Vestiges show that the place has been discovered since prehistoric times, which means that the origins of Spain date back to that time period. You can visit the menhirs in Vallbanera to convince yourself in this respect. Then, if you wonder what a Roman bath looked like, just go to the Pla de Palol archeological site, dating back to the first century.

Another place of historical significance for the town, the one that actually gave its name to the town, is the Benedormiens Castle; built in the 9th century. Once you are done sightseeing, you can delight your senses with the best chicken and rabbit stews in Spain. You can order such dishes in any restaurant in Castell d’Aro.
